Living in The Now-Part I
by Neven Paar

As you are born, so will you die. In this process, the duality of human existence, it's inevitable that the Ego forms, which acts as a sense-based intelligence, a protector of the physical body. The Ego is a survival mechanism that you associate with; it is who you are or who you think you are—your identity, the Self. Because it deludes you into thinking that you are it, the Ego plays an integral part in the maturation process and the establishment of consciousness.

The Ego is the result of the localization of your consciousness in the body. But even though your consciousness is Eternal, meaning it can never be annihilated or destroyed; the Ego, on the other hand, belongs to the world of duality. As it is the silent observer of the processes of the mind, over time, you will notice that the Ego has a distinct way of operating. It thinks in terms of past and future, a duality. The past is your interpretation of events, a summary of willful actions and behaviours—things that you were a part of or that happened.

The Ego uses the past to make decisions about the future. It uses logic and emotion to make these decisions. In most cases, your choices are not premeditated but are a result of how the Ego feels at any given moment. Nevertheless, your life decisions are invariably the result of memories drawn up from the past. In this way, the Ego operates; it uses the past to plan future events.

By establishing itself through the name identity you are given in this lifetime, as well as your personality, likes, and dislikes, the Ego takes care of the physical body and supports your persona. It seeks to protect the Self and shield it from the perceived wrongs that occur as a result of contact with other people's Egos as well as the situations you face in life. It is always on the defensive and it views the Self as separate from the rest of the world. Many people never get beyond associating the Ego with the Self; the Ego becomes the persona and must be sustained and defended at all costs.

However, if you disassociate yourself from the Ego, upon proper introspection, you will discover another part of yourself, namely a Silent Witness or observer whose role is to watch the mental processes of the Ego and your reactions to the events of daily life. This part of the Self, the Higher Self, is motivated by another faculty of the Self—love.

Motivated by the desire for unity of all things in existence, love manifests as a feeling that you are no longer separate from the rest of the world. The faculty of love, then, is triggered by thinking above and beyond the Lower Self, the Ego. It is an ideal, something to strive for and live up to. Love vibrates at a higher frequency than the Ego and, when experienced, produces an emotion that feels better than any feeling the Ego generates.

You are an emotional human being whose overall purpose is to be happy. When you can lose yourself in this emotion of unconditional love, you will find it more significant than the Ego's insatiable appetite for Self-love.

As a human, you are naturally conditioned to follow what feels best. Once you realize that unconditional love can be the guiding force in your life, you function out of unconditional love rather than the Self-love needs of the Ego. This mode of functioning, in turn, raises your consciousness beyond the Physical Plane. You start to develop virtuous characteristics, and your behaviour begins to be ethical and moral, a quality that is valued in our society and is a deliberate choice for you to aspire towards.

By acting with an ethical foundation, you access the Now, the present moment. This state of Being is experienced more as an emotion than as a thought. The Ego is still present, though. It is always present, but it is silenced most when you are living in the Now. When things happen to you, the Ego will rear its head and try to guide you. But if you identify the source of this guidance as originating from the past Ego-imprints, you will realize it is coming from the Ego, which will enable you to reject it.

Acting from a place of unconditional love is something that occurs intuitively. It connects you to your Soul. Because you can lose yourself in this emotion, you may tend to act under its influence. By losing yourself in this in-the-moment process, you naturally will gravitate towards things that make you lose track of time and space.

You see, the mind thinks in terms of past and future. Going beyond your mind then means to overcome all past and future thoughts and influences. It seems almost natural to want to think in such a manner, and it is. Because in the Now, in this realm beyond duality and the Ego, is to be found the Eternal Spirit.

This Spirit is the highest part of you as a human being. It is your essence. And you are not just the Spirit, but a compilation of different Elements that operate under the Spirit's influence. Spirit is the highest part of you, though since it is the Source energy of all things. You gravitate naturally towards that which is highest in you as it is the natural inclination to do so.

A Kundalini awakening is the ultimate Spiritually transformative experience. It usually takes many years to fully transform, which can be very arduous for the experiencer. The Self goes through a process that deals with the expansion of bio-energy and consciousness. Its goal is to catapult the Self into the Now permanently. The mind is bypassed through this process. Instead of thinking logically and emotionally, the Self starts to develop an ability to think intuitively. It begins to act according to what the Spirit, the highest part of you, wills.

By aligning with the Spirit, you are invariably gaining a permanent connection with your Holy Guardian Angel. According to Qabalistic teachings, the Holy Guardian Angel is the part of the Self that belongs to the Spirit. For human beings, the Holy Guardian Angel is the highest conception of God that can be conceived from a material standpoint.

Kundalini acts like a switch implanted within the Self by a higher Source that allows us to evolve past the material, physical world in a relatively small amount of time. It is the Great Awakening, the Rebirth or Resurrection idea from the Christian pantheon, and the essence, the purpose of all religion.

Because the Now is a place of pure potential, being at one with the Spirit energy allows you to function at your highest potential. In this realm of Pure Potential, all of your dreams and desires can come true because you are enabled to will them into existence. Past conditioning has no hold on people who live in the Now, especially those who have awakened Kundalini. These people operate at a hyper-consciousness level since they are now in touch with their Holy Guardian Angel. This God-Self belongs to Cosmic Consciousness, which the Kundalini awakened individual has access to.

Once the Kundalini has awakened and activated the Chakras and the Light Body, the individual begins their lengthy process of transformation. Over many years, the Kundalini circuit will function at its most optimal level, with the connection to the Bindu point at the top back of the head. The consciousness will funnel out of the Bindu, enabling the individual to experience the Spiritual Realm of Non-Duality. All thoughts and emotions are self-reconciled through the Bindu, which will bring about many permanent changes to how you function. Since the Kundalini Fire is unhindered by the workings of the Ego (which houses the duality of the mind), you will live in a constant state of inspiration and pure joy. You will be localized in the Now, and experience the power of pure consciousness and potential.

With the self-sustaining Kundalini energy now working in you, a whole new world of potential opens up. No task is too hard; no dream is too big, no obstacle can prevent success in any given area of life that you will into existence. By being in the Now, the concept of manifesting reality through your willpower is enhanced a hundredfold. As the Kundalini energy moves towards the Bindu at the top back of the head, you will lose yourself in transcendental states of consciousness through music or art or other awareness observing exercises.

The feeling that is generated by this new state of Being can best be described as the Glory of God alluded to by Jesus Christ. I believe it is the exact state he was talking about when referring to the Kingdom of Heaven. The emotion that it generates is due to the rapture that is felt in the Heart as the self-sustaining Kundalini circuit becomes fully active. Every action makes you feel as if you're the star in an epic movie. You are genuinely a King or Queen, and the external world is your Kingdom. As a silent observer, as you are outside of your Being, you can control your body language and voice tonality, abling you to convey the desired effect to the people you interact with. As a silent observer, you are manifesting your reality through controlling vibrations. The secret to being and remaining in this state, or zone, is to be in the Now.
